QbCheck is an FDA-cleared, computer-based test that objectively measures three key dimensions of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder: attention, impulsivity, and motor activity. The test delivers a continuous performance task on your computer — you are presented with a series of visual stimuli and asked to respond according to specific rules. Your performance is then compared against age- and gender-matched normative data to generate quantitative results.
The test takes approximately 15–20 minutes and is completed from your own computer during a scheduled testing window. You need a webcam, a stable internet connection, and a quiet space where you can focus without interruption. The webcam monitors that you remain engaged and focused during the assessment, ensuring the integrity of the results.
QbCheck provides objective, quantitative data that supplements the clinical interview and helps your provider see your ADHD symptoms from another angle. It is not a standalone diagnostic tool — no single test diagnoses ADHD. Instead, it fills gaps when the clinical picture is unclear, when diagnostic uncertainty exists, or when tracking how you are responding to treatment over time. The decision to use QbCheck is made by your provider based on clinical need.
The results are compared against normative data and compiled into a report that your provider reviews alongside your clinical evaluation. Together, these form the basis for treatment recommendations and ongoing care.
The Process
QbCheck is straightforward, convenient, and can be completed from home.
Clinical Use
Not every patient requires QbCheck testing. It is a tool used when additional objective data would add clinical value to the assessment. Your provider determines whether QbCheck is appropriate based on your specific situation. Some common scenarios include: when the diagnostic picture is unclear and objective data would help confirm or rule out ADHD, when you have co-occurring conditions — such as anxiety, depression, or learning disabilities — that complicate the assessment, and when there is uncertainty about whether ADHD is the primary driver of your symptoms or a secondary feature.
QbCheck is also useful for tracking treatment response. If you start ADHD medication or make other treatment changes, a follow-up QbCheck test can show whether your attention, impulsivity, and motor activity have objectively improved. This helps your provider make informed adjustments to your treatment plan.
The key point: QbCheck supplements, not replaces, a comprehensive clinical evaluation. It is one piece of information — a valuable one — but not the whole picture. Diagnosis and treatment always rest on a thorough understanding of your history, current symptoms, functional impact, and how you respond to interventions.
